HELLO. i’m paul salt.

I am a highly capable, process-oriented and detail-focussed professional engineer with 25 years of industry experience in roles of increasing levels of autonomy, responsibility, knowledge and authority.

Most recently, I occupied a key role as Chief of the Office of Airworthiness in a small European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part-21 Subpart-J Design Organisation Approval (DOA) leading certification activities, managing airworthiness matters and compliance verification, writing procedures and providing training. I also oversaw the organisation’s application to the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) for a UK DOA in the event of a no-deal exit from the European Union, as well as holding Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) responsibility with respect to changes affecting aircraft Air Conditioning Systems.

Previous to this, I have successfully managed a number of projects for large aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as Airbus, ensuring smooth delivery of equipment designs on time and to cost. I am also a highly experienced designer and Finite Element Analyst in the aerospace and automotive sectors.

I am offering the following services: – 

• Certification project leadership or support related to airworthiness aspects for major design changes (Supplemental Type Certificate or STC) or minor design/repair changes to Large Aeroplanes and Rotorcraft, including establishment of Type Certification Basis and realistic Certification Programmes for Type Designs.
• CVE function: independent verification of demonstrations of compliance to certification requirements for ATA Chapter 21 Air Conditioning Systems (ACS) as part of Environmental Control Systems (ECS) on Large Aeroplanes.  I currently fulfil CVE function for STC Twenty One (DOA no. EASA.21J.198) with respect to ECS changes/repairs on Large Aeroplanes and Rotorcraft.
• Support regarding all aspects of the responsibilities of an EASA or UK CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) DOA’s Office of Airworthiness, including writing procedures for changes to Part-21 and providing training for DOA staff.
• Leadership or support of your project in a design or project management capacity.

I am a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

In 2018 I set up Paul Salt Solutions Limited to provide airworthiness/certification, project management and design consultancy services.
